JOSEPH P. THOMPSON
» B.A. from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. (Home of
Sir Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech) Studied pre-vet
medicine.
» Over 25 years of sales and marketing experience. Actually, I
have always been entrepreneurial enjoyed selling and have and can remember
selling greeting cards when I was eight.
» I cleaned animal kennels after school an on weekends while in
high school for two dollars an hour at the Northeast Dog and Cat Hospital
in Kansas City.
» I worked my way through college as a photographer where I took
thousands of slides for teaching equine veterinary medicine. I also
worked part-time selling photographic equipment for the old Felix Camera
Store in Kansas City.
» Ten years in sales and marketing with Pitman Moore, Inc., the
former veterinary pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson.
In addition to a highly successful field sales career, I was product
manager for a wide variety of products primarily for use in small animals.
These included sutures and other surgical products, anesthetics, ectoparasiticides,
anthlemintics, antifungals and more. This was probably the most fun
job I ever had. I went around to other J & J companies and found
products that could be used by vets and brought them to the market.
» I pioneered the use of database marketing in the late 1980's
and have worked with or consulted to a number of Fortune 500 companies
including, DuPont, ALPO Petfoods, Merck, Monsanto, Bayer and others.
» Always wanting to be on top of the latest trends, in 1998 I
joined ABS Global as Director of Communications. In 1997, ABS made history
when their scientists cloned the first bovine, a bull calf named Gene.
» As you will see by the products I currently sell, I continue
to be involved in the latest technologies for veterinary medicine and
animal health.
» I am an Advanced Toastmaster Bronze from Toastmasters
International and Past-President of the Epic Toastmasters Club of Madison,
WI.
My home family pets and pleasures
» Born and raised in the old Italian Northeast neighborhood Kansas
City, Missouri
» Live in Madison, Wisconsin with my wife Linda, daughter Kathleen
and son Charlie as well as my Abby cat and a chocolate Labrador retriever.
Madison by far is the best place I have ever lived!
» I love to see my kids have fun!
» My passions include photography, music (mostly classical and
classic rock) and studying natural history.
» It has not done much for my waistline, but I have become quite
a gourmet chef. I like to find a good meal at a restaurant and recreate
the recipe from taste. Those "secret ingredients" are the
killers!
» I enjoy hiking in the University of Wisconsin Arboretum, a nature
preserve that backs up to our back yard.

» It is a early Saturday morning treat to go to the Dane County
Farmers' Market.
